Horses Change Lives is an organisation that provides Equine Assisted Therapy sessions to improve the emotional and mental well-being of children, teenagers and adults; by utilising the natural behaviour of horses alongside specifically designed therapeutic programmes.

We specialise in working with troubled teens and young offenders through equine assisted therapy programmes and therapeutic horsemanship programmes. This partnership between horses and individuals provides the perfect environment for remarkable personal development and growth.

Horses are ideal coaching and counselling guides as they respond naturally and without judgment to any emotional issues people bring to their sessions with us. This allows a unique insight into the individual difficulties a client is experiencing, but by working with a horse towards a change, the horse is able to provide both support and positive feedback as the interaction progresses.

At Horses Change Lives... we aim to help a wide range of individuals including children and adults whose emotional and mental well-being may have deteriorated due to childhood traumas and difficult life experiences. We help our clients to gain skills in horsemanship, which naturally aids development of people skills. This includes training in related fields and finding gainful employment, if that is their wish.

Why use Horses?

Interacting with horses at liberty, but within a controlled environment requires the same personal qualities as leading a team of people in the workplace.

Horses provide instant feedback that is accurate, honest and non- judgmental on a moment-by-moment basis; showing us how we are actually behaving.

The surprise is that how we think we are behaving and how we are actually behaving can be poles apart.

Horses do not role-play therefore to have a horse follow you of its own accord, you must demonstrate true leadership qualities and skills, that the horse both understands and is drawn to.

These are the exact same qualities that all team members must learn to exhibit in order to effectively contribute to the team, so that in turn the team is truly successful.

Through our programmes participants can learn how to access these resources from within themselves.
