Who we are

Welcome to the Weston-Super-Mare First Class Learning Centre. Rachel Holdom, centre manager, has been running highly successful after-school maths and English classes for over 16 years. The FCL programme follows the UK National Curriculum and supports children and adults in the local community with both maths and English tuition.

Students of all ages and abilities attend our study centre once a week on a Thursday at The Campus in Weston-super-Mare. We cater for learners from Early Years and primary through to GCSE and adult students.

Our expert tutors support your child's learning in maths, English or both subjects together in order to help with their school studies, build confidence and develop independent learning skills. The FCL programme is supported by the Dyspraxia Foundation as well as being run in many schools throughout the UK.

Our English and maths programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. At First Class Learning we believe in 1% steps to 100% success.

How does it work?

The First Class Learning (FCL) Tutor will complete a free assessment which will determine your child's curriculum level and the features of FCL will be explained with any questions answered.

If all parties agree that FCL is right for you, your child can start attending classes and gaining the benefits of FCL study which involves regular, weekly attendance at the centre.

Here they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the Tutor. Your child will be given a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

Your next step

If you think that FCL might be right for you please contact your local Centre Manager and arrange for a free assessment. This will be carried out at your home at a time convenient to you. It takes around an hour and an individual programme of work for your child will be explained to you.

You will then be able to find out how your child can become one of the growing number in the UK enjoying success with First Class Learning.

The Weston Super Mare First Class Learning Centre is run by Rachel Holdom.

Rachel is fully trained and qualified to deliver the First Class Learning study programmes. Every First Class Learning tutor holds an enhanced DBS certificate (CRB).

She has been running after school maths & English classes for over 16 years.
