I'm a perfectionist when it comes to buying steak and love to source really good quality ribeye, sirloin and fillet. I visited Hadlow's of Titchfield recently and was most impressed. The shop has wonderful displays of beef, pork and lamb in the window with counters inside featuring ready to go preparations for the BBQ and other tempting items. There's a puddings counter too with traditional apple pies and the like. I was there for steaks though, so I asked about fillet steak. I was shown possibly the largest and leanest looking beef fillet I have ever seen and bought four generous slices weighing in a a touch over a kilo for the four! I grilled them that night and served them up to visiting family. All plates came back completely cleared and everyone agreed the beef was really delicious and a (big) slice of something special! Butchers tend to either focus on premium quality or low prices, and at R F Hadlow the focus is definitely on the best product available, with award rosettes for their selected suppliers proudly displayed on the various cabinets. We'll certainly be back and recommend R F Hadlow for the excellent quality, wide selection and traditional expert service.
