A place to enjoy cookery! Nothing is more important in designing a kitchen than thinking about how exactly it will be used. Whose room, essentially is it going to be? What difference does it make, you might ask. Well, shouldn't the worktops, for example, be the ideal height for the person who'll be spending most time at them? If you study, as I have, what people actually do when they're cooking, you find that the majority of movement is between the sink, the refrigerator, the hob and the oven. Your kitchen should clearly be designed with this in mind (it's surprisingly often overlooked). How tall are you? Do you have long arms? Odd questions? Not a bit, because although you'll want lots of cupboard space, you won't want the handles to be out of reach. In short, my kitchens are designed around you. The way you are, the way you want to live your life, and the type of food you like to cook.
