HL Studios...my experience
Anyone who writes songs will know how nerve-wracking it can be to share your work with someone else. But when i made the decision to do something with the lyrics I'd penned over the years, the decision as to who I was going to put my trust in was an easy one. I've been a client of Gareth's for a number of years now but I still remember that one of my first impressions of him was how relaxed & comfortable he made me feel from the word go. Gareth is an immensely talented singer, songwriter & producer & this, combined with his love of music is what I believe makes him so successful. In my own experience at HL Studios, whether I've arrived with fully written lyrics & strong ideas on how the song should sound, or whether my ideas have just been jotted down roughly, on every occasion I have walked away with a song that I love. Gareth's wicked sense of humour & exquisite attention to detail make working with him an absolute pleasure & I look forward to visiting HL Studios again soon.

HL Studios
When I decided I wanted to write a song, I went straight to Gareth from HL Studios. He helped me write the song, and gave me a lot of ideas of how to improve my song writing skills. In the studio, we created the backing track from scrap and Gareth did a lot of work to make the song sound perfect. I then recorded my vocals with excellent coaching from Gareth and created the song. I had a great time at HL Studios and I would recommend it to everyone.

thoughts on HL Studios
Initial Impressions: * Friendly, welcoming reception * Much bigger than expected - wouldn't guess it was there from the road! * Comfortable, relaxing layout * Handy kitchen kept the coffee flowing * We were able to watch the whole process from the settee in the control room * Can't hear anything outside - inside the sound from the monitors is breathtakingly clear Preparation * Gareth had 'worked up' the backing track with the songwriter before we arrived. * Earlier 'acoustic' version of the track was virtually unrecognizable * Now a much fuller, rock sound * Georgia both relieved and delighted - more her 'cup of tea'. Working with Gareth * Took time to explain what he was doing * Played the results of building up the backing track * Took time to make sure it was going in the direction Georgia wanted * We felt we had a say in things - was fully interactive * Gareth reassured and encouraged Georgia to 'push' her limits * Gareth attempted to 'fix' the odd flaw in Georgia's singing electronically * In the end, he encouraged her to sing it again until it was 'right' * Georgia was able to participate in 're-writing' the song till it 'felt right' * Digital editing of multiple takes allowed us to use all the 'best bits'. * Gareth got Georgia to add stereo effects, her own harmonies and little 'flourishes' * Pressed on until 1030pm - Gareth worked very hard to get it right End Results * Gareth 'Mastered' the recording after we left/following day * Printed several copies of the CD, with name and logo printing on CD, not on a label * Work colleagues couldn't believe it wasn't a real band, but my 11 year old and a computer generated backing! * Really pleased with the outcome - it keeps going round and round inside our head! * Georgia is chuffed too, and can't wait to come back and finish the Album! (I hope she's paying!)
