Home from Home guesthouse is situated on the West of the town of Leiston. It is within walking distance to the local co-operative store, many various restaurants and public houses. I have compiled a detailed explanation of the house and how things work and include a large description of pubs, restaurants, taxi numbers, local attractions and more. Please feel free to download the "Welcome Pack" for your information, there is a copy of this in every room.

Leiston

Leiston is a town in Suffolk, England. It is situated close to Saxmundham and Aldeburgh, and is about 2.5 miles from the North Sea coast and 90 miles (140 km) northeast of London.

The High Street in Leiston serves as the business and market hub of the surrounding agricultural district, and as an entry for tourists visiting the nearby towns of Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Snape and Southwold. The town's facilities include a leisure centre, cinema, parks (including a skatepark), post office, library, banks, pubs, a bakery, greengrocer's and butcher's selling local produce, a diverse range of restaurants and take-aways, coffee-shops, and various other shops.

The Leiston Picture House (recently renamed the "Leiston Film Theatre"), a half-timbered building with street front shops, is the oldest purpose-built cinema in Suffolk. Also in town is the infamous long shop Museum which was the former home of Richard Garrett and Sons and is now open to the public.

Leiston Abbey is a beautiful historic site dating from 1363. The beautiful abbey ruins, incorporated into the buildings, create a stunning venue to visit and look around the ruins.

Leiston Football Club play in the Ridgeons Premier League and in November 2008 reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

The Church of St Margaret of Antioch is a traditional Anglican church with an ancient tower and an unusual 19th century nave. In addition there are Roman Catholic and Baptist churches at the edge of the town.

DOGS

Although I am unable to accept dogs at our guesthouse, for all you dog lovers out there who would like to holiday with their adorable 4 legged friends, a friend of mine, Helen Brown, owns a brilliant doggie day care centre that now offers overnight boarding.

Helen has built a luxury boarding block for Happi days dogs when owners go on holiday, they come to her “crèche" during the day and sleep in private rooms at night, they have a six foot fenced piece of woodland for their walks too now! For any wishing to stay at Home from Home, your dogs could stay at Happi days during your holiday and you could still be able to take them out and drop them back at the end of your walk.
