The Intelligent Charging business began in the mid 1980's from a UK Royal Navy requirement for a new type of military battery charger / analyzer. Further success soon followed with designs being specified for use with all BAE Hawk jets.
Since then, the company has developed a wide range of advanced battery charger-analysers, power supplies and accessories, while constantly upgrading and enhancing existing models. Some units are standard - available 'off-the-shelf', others bespoke designs for special applications.
These are now used worldwide where batteries cannot be allowed to fail. In fact, anywhere it is vital to ensure full-load, full-capacity performance: "battery testing and charging for critical uses".
Typical uses are with aircraft and military batteries, marine, railway and road transport vehicles, and to guarantee back-up supplies in the areas of mobile telecoms, emergency generators and security systems.
"Intelligent Charging" is the trading name of CasC Systems Ltd, an electronics design & manufacturing company based in Norwich, UK.
The company is a MoD approved supplier, and operates a Quality Management System to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 (Certificate Number FM 535034)
Health and Safety:
Risk assessments need to consider: "What are the consequences of a battery failure?" and where a serious risk is indicated, a regime of full-load testing should be implemented.
Commercial risk reduction.
Proper battery testing will avoid expensive failures and down-time in businesses that rely on battery power for their operations (and their reputation). Examples:- in mobile telephony transmitters and road haulage fleets.
The true costs of failure of a critical battery will be far more than just the replacement cost.
Full load, full capacity testing can – and should – be used on all critical battery applications, where a failure of the battery to operate to its capacity could be hazardous or create major disruption.
Simpler battery monitoring systems can be useful in predicting some problems, and a routine replacement programme can reduce failure risks. But the only way to confirm a battery will operate at its design rating is to test it at full load and to full capacity.
The “Intelligent Charging" range of universal, programmable battery charger - analyzers has been designed to perform these tests automatically, for a wide range of battery technologies and sizes. They will then correctly recharge the battery, and print a test certificate for QC purposes.
