At the Kenjou Shukokai Karate club we aim to provide a high standard of teaching a traditional martial art. Men, women and children young and old are all welcome whether you have any previous experience or not. Beginners through to black belts will all be given an equal amount of tuition time. It doesn’t matter if you are physically fit, when you join our club we will assess your capabilities and work with you to attain a level that we feel you can reach. We appreciate people are of different shapes and sizes; therefore do not worry if you feel you are not very ‘flexible’ for example. Our aim is for a ‘friendly’ club environment. Everyone is here to learn. If you decide to join our club, you will expect to understand the mechanics of the body whilst learning how to defend yourself. Your confidence will grow as you grasp techniques such as blocking, punching, kicks, strikes, evasion movements and self defence techniques, which will include disarming as assailant. After training for a few years, one will focus on perfecting the technique and developing the power as well as helping newcomers to the club.
