WHAT IS AN EICR?
Fixed wire testing is the testing of the circuits contained within the fabric of your building. The socket outlets, lighting circuits and various others. This was commonly known as Periodic Inspection and testing, however since January 2012 it is now called an Electrical Installation Condition Report.
WHY DO I NEED THIS?
The two main dangers associated with electricity are risk of electric shock and risk of fire. Over time, installations deteriorate, and it is in the best interest of not only yourself and employees, but your insurance company that you have an installation that is not only electrically sound but free from the potential risk of heat or fire. Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and time. Therefore, if the safety of the users is not to be put at risk, it is important that every installation is periodically inspected and tested by a competent person. BS7671 recommends that every electrical installation is subjected to periodic inspection and testing. The Inspection and Testing should be carried out at appropriate intervals in order to determine what, if any anything, needs to be done to maintain the installation in a safe and serviceable condition.
The purpose of the Electrical Installation Condition Report is not to carry out a fault finding exercise, but to assess and report on the condition of an installation within the agreed extent and limitation of the inspection.
WHAT IS EMERGENCY LIGHTING TESTING
The purpose of an Emergency Lighting Inspection and Test Certificate is to assist in maintaining a ‘Life Safety' system which provides reliable & safe egress from buildings/areas subjected to poor lighting conditions in time of emergency. They will also help businesses and organisations comply with the recommendations given in BS5266-1:2005 Emergency Lighting Part 1: Code of practice for the emergency lighting of premises, BS EN 1838: 1999 / BS 5266-7: 1999 Lighting applications - Emergency lighting and BS EN 50172: 2004 / BS 5266-8: 2004 Emergency escape lighting systems.
EMERGENCY LIGHTING TEST (FROM 1 YEAR – 3 YEARS)
Emergency Lighting automatically operates for between one and three hours on a battery back-up system. The Emergency Lighting inspection and test will be carried out by isolating the supplies to the luminaires to simulate power loss. The lights will then be left to discharge for their rated duration and then to be checked to ensure they are set to recharge following the restoration of their supplies. We will check all luminaires and signs to ensure that they are present, clean and functioning correctly. Any lighting units that fail to illuminate clearly or brightly, have blackened bulbs or tubes or does not maintain luminance for the required time will be noted and should be repaired as soon as possible. A report will be produced showing the health of the system and indicating if there are any faults and your Emergency Lighting Log Book will be updated.
Electrical fires represent 40% of fire loss insurance costs in industry and 20% of large scale fire incidents. Accidents are commonly caused by loose connections, weakening of isolations, obstructed cooling and mechanical damage. Thermal Imaging can pinpoint overheating and provides a way of detecting overcurrent faults and poor connections.
The requirement to adequately and routinely assess electrical performance and compliance is never more present than in the working environment. The unseen hazards associated with electrical failure, fault or degradation can present risks to health and the environment leading to loss of efficiency, accident, injury or fire.
Thermal Imaging is a non-invasive in-depth survey serving to thoroughly assess and identify unseen areas of possible risk, danger or inadequacy in your electrical system.
Thermal Imaging works by comparing the temperature rise of the fault with the correctly operating component, under the same loading conditions the severity of the problem can be determined.
Portable appliance testing involves a series of inspections that assess the safety and sustainability of electrical appliances.
Our engineers will test your portable appliances to ensure they comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations of 1989 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Your equipment will be labelled as to whether it has passed or failed and we will provide you with certification and an asset register of your tested appliances.

I would highly recommend KGESTC Ltd for their electrical safety testing services. From the free site survey and quotation to the works being carried out very quickly and accurately it was a pleasure from beginning to end. I've used other companies in the past but the level of service was unbeatable. I had the electrical report within a day of testing with a quote for the remedial works included. I will definitely be using them again.....
