There are many myths about hypnotherapy - some even believed by hypnotists themselves. But thanks to modern scientific research we know much more about how it works today than ever before. And for appropriate problems it really does work well - and there is plenty of evidence for that. The power of your imagination is much greater than your will. The best subjects are the intelligent and creative, not the gullible or those of low IQ.
However, the day of the charlatan are not yet over. Anyone can call themselves a hypnotherapist and there are cases of people advertising with a string of letters behind their names but they are bogus qualifications that can be bought over the net without any checks. The Department of Health recommends that you choose one that is properly qualified and registered with the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council as I am.
