Having read the review regarding the bland pasta dish, I feel I have to comment. "Potato Gnocchi takes pride of place as an all Itialian Classic" Being a long time vegetarian (30 years) I find this dish to be exceptionally well prepared and a change from the norm. Bearing in mind if anyone wants pasta then order pasta not gnocci. Have visited this restaurant on several occasions an have found the service and food to be first class and would recommend to anyone. Vegetarian or meat eater.

Went here with a small group and was rather disappointed. The Inn has a good reputation for food, but did not seem worthy of note compared to others I had visited. The soup was perfectly fine but my main course, pasta with nuts and cream sauce was bland. The prices were reasonable but I would rather go elsewhere.

If you are planning a visit down to Ayrshire, make sure you don't miss out by dining at Ayrshires best kept secret - The Loudoun Hill Inn. It is situated on the main A71 road between Strathaven and Darvel facing the Loudoun Hill. From the outside it could be simply any side of the road pub restaurant. Once you are inside you quickly realise that this place could easily compete with some of the top UK restaurants. The food is absolutely delicious! The food and presentation is on a par to a few michelin star restaurants that I have been to, but without the high prices. For example, a braised shoulder of lamb on a bed of mash will set you back less than £15, but for the way it tastes you would easily part with more cash for it. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel like their main priority and help create a relaxing atmosphere in which to dine. It is an ideal location for anyone seeking to impress someone special without spending a fortune like you do in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
