Sports Massage is not just for sports people - Everyone can benefit!

Sports massage is more technical and medical than most other forms of massage. It involves the Sports Therapist taking a detailed patient history to get to the bottom of your problem and putting together a plan of action to relieve symptoms and get you fit and active again.
Often poor posture, being overweight or having a weak core can be worsening your problems. Our therapists can put together a programme to relieve the initial symptoms and then give you tools to maintain your health and fitness for the future.

Frequently it is the way the skeleton is interacting with the tendons, ligaments, nerves and muscles that causes us pain and lost range of movement. This can lead to reduced ability to exercise, chronic pain, depression and despondency. Finding a solution can greatly improve a person's health, well-being and body shape.

Sports Massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments. It is applicable not just to sports people but to anybody wishing to guard against or recover from a soft tissue injury.

Hypnotherapy Can help deal with a whole host of issues and should not be dismissed because it is not a physical treatment.

Hypnotherapy attempts to address an individual's subconscious mind, using the power of suggestion for beneficial change. A hypnotherapist uses hypnosis to give relevant, positive beneficial suggestions to help an individual bring about the change they desire. Although hypnotherapy is not the same as sleep (the individual will still have awareness and control), hypnotherapists often require the individual to be in a deeply relaxed state to enable them to use their imagination fully. For this reason, it's imperative that the individual feels completely comfortable with their hypnotherapist. Hypnosis is a different state of consciousness from being awake or asleep, and many people compare the deep, relaxed state of hypnosis to daydreaming.

Altered states of awareness have been recognised for thousands of years and hypnosis is widely accepted as a beneficial psychological therapy to access our inner potential. Techniques can be used to reveal issues from an individuals past that may be causing them distress, or the approach can be focused more on their present problems. Hypnotherapy can generally help with most emotional problems an individual is finding hard to cope with, and some physical problems can also be effectively treated with hypnosis too, such as IBS and insomnia. However, it's important for an individual to consult their GP before approaching a hypnotherapist if they are suffering from any physical or psychological problems.

Hypnotherapists will often combine hypnosis with other psychotherapy and counseling techniques to benefit individuals. The techniques used will depend on the issue the individual is seeking help for.

Hypnotherapy can be used to treat a range of issues, for example -

Stopping Smoking
Relationships
Weight Loss and Weight Management
Fear of Flying
Insomnia and Sleeplessness
Public Speaking
Memory
Allergies
Exam Help
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Motivation
Comfort Eating
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Pain Management
Phobias
Confidence Building
Blushing
Anxiety and Stress Management
Stuttering
Fitness and Health
Nail Biting
Teeth or Jaw Grinding
Drug Dependancy
This is not an exhaustive list, there are many more ways in which hypnotherapy may be beneficial.

We must point out that results cannot be guaranteed with any form of hypnotherapy, but we do endeavor to assess a patients suitability for hypnosis before recommending a treatment or course of treatments, by way of an initial consultation.

Believe it or not this Therapy has amazing results!!

Emotional Freedom Technique - commonly abbreviated to EFT, or sometimes referred to as "Tapping Therapy" - is a modern and growing form of personal development and therapy. EFT is one of a number of recent concepts increasingly used for improving and developing people. EFT can be effective for various purposes, including personal and self-development, attitude and behaviour development, resolving personal problems, reducing stress, and restoring life balance.

EFT is about returning the mind, body and feelings to a state of balance and harmony so you are not limited by negative emotions.

Even though we are 'designed' to recover from unpleasant experiences or thought patterns, we can be affected by recurring emotions from past events such as relationships, trauma or loss. We can also be affected by ongoing or future events such as work-related stress, interpersonal problems, depression and various kinds of anxieties.

EFT is a very effective yet gentle method of directly balancing the body's energy system for the feelings that you want to change. It's a bit like clearing a log that's blocking a stream where the log represents a stuck emotion in your stream of energy. You don't have to believe in the theory though, just as you don't need to know how a car works under the bonnet to drive one. Some people do like to find out more about the theory, while others are happy simply to have their problem resolved.

Using EFT involves 'tuning into' the issue and then tapping with your fingers on specific acupressure points on the body. For example if you still carry anger towards someone who has hurt you in the past, you would be asked to think about them, and notice how you feel. But you do not have to relive past events. You just have to be aware that the negative feeling is there. Having therefore 'tuned in' to it, you are shown which acupressure points to tap, and what words to say as you do so. (Saying a few things also helps to disperse the emotion from the system).

Having done that you are then asked to think about the person or situation again and check how you feel. Typically you will notice a significant reduction in the intensity of the feeling. If it's not completely gone then the EFT practitioner repeats the process, bringing the intensity down each time until full balance is restored.

All this is done while sitting normally in a chair.

Following an EFT session, the dispelled feelings very rarely return. Of course you can still feel angry, fearful or guilty about other things - and it might be appropriate to do so. But if you have thoroughly used EFT correctly for a specific issue, the feeling should not return. Once you have sent the problem 'downstream', it does not come back up.

You will still retain the memory of the event you were working on but it will no longer have the emotional charge that it had before. The other thing to say is that there may be more than one emotion that needs to cleared, like more than one log jamming the stream. So using our example there might be the anger towards the person, but there could also be anger towards yourself, or other emotions involved such as guilt or sadness. All of these can be addressed separately, and often when you start to disperse one emotion the intensity of others can start reducing straight away.

As with all psychological therapies, success cannot be 100% guaranteed, but in the majority of cases, it will prove successful.

At Loughborough Therapy Clinic we administer the treatment over 2 sessions -
An initial half hour consultation, then a 1 hour therapy session at a later date.
After this you will be able to administer the technique yourself, at home, should the need arise. So there will be no need to return to see the therapist in relation to the same problem.

A Natural way to healing and well-being

One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the bodies natural healing abilities, and improves and maintains health. Reiki healing is a natural therapy that gently balances life energies and brings health and well being to the recipient.

This simple, non-invasive healing system works with the Higher Self of the Receiver to promote health and well being of the entire physical, emotional and psychic body. Therefore it is truly a system of attaining and promoting wholeness of Mind, Body and Spirit.

Reiki is a specific type of subtle energy work in which healing is performed by the touch of the hands, allowing the flow of the energy from a limitless source to the patient via the Reiki practitioner. It is extremely powerful, yet gentle energy that can be easily channelled to yourself and others.

The practitioner will give a short explanation of what the treatment involves. You may be asked some details, including a brief medical history. You will be asked to lie down (or sit if this is easier for you) but will not be asked to remove any clothing except for things which could restrict your breathing or comfort, such as shoes or spectacles. Reiki will go through clothing, blankets, or even a plaster cast if necessary!

Treatment is given by the practitioner placing their hands gently on your body in a pre-determined sequence of hand positions, spending several minutes holding each position. These hand positions are non-intrusive and cover both the front and back of the body and are sometimes varied to give Reiki to areas where it is specifically needed. If you find any of the hand positions uncomfortable please tell the practitioner. The touch should be gentle, light and comfortable; there is no massage or manipulation. You may feel sensations such as heat, tingling, coolness or throbbing under the practitioners' hands or in other parts of your body. Many people experience a sense of well being and relaxation, or fall asleep; sometimes a treatment is energizing. There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki. The treatment will normally last at least 1 hour.
