About

Margaret Silander is based in Ashford, Kent and offers Herbal Medicine, Hypnotherapy, Aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage....

Herbal medicine is the use of whole plant preparations to treat illness and disease and to restore health. Herbal medicines treat the person as a whole not just the symptoms and tends to support the body's natural healing processes rather than just attacking the disease. Medical herbalism may be used for a wide range of conditions with complete success and there are very few cases in which it cannot offer some help. It can be applied at any stage in life; newborn babies, children, adults and elderly people can by helped with Herbal Medicine.

Hypnotherapy....

Hypnosis is a lot like daydreaming. When you daydream you alter your state of consciousness and let your mind wander, into fantasies. All the time you are conscious and aware yet you remain oblivious to external distractions.

Hypnosis is a technique, which enables you to achieve this altered state of consciousness - the day dream state - deliberately and direct your attention to specific goals in order to achieve them.

In hypnosis, like daydreaming, you are conscious and aware, yet remain oblivious to external distractions. In hypnosis your conscious mind becomes quiet or passive and allows access to the subconscious, a powerful part of the mind. The Hypnotherapist is thus able to introduce positive suggestions into the subconscious mind.

Aromatherapy....

Aromatherapy is the branch of herbalism which improves physical and emotional wellbeing by the systematic use of essential oils (substances extracted from the roots, stalks, flowers, leaves or fruit of a plant). The oils penetrate the body through the skin or lungs to the bloodstream and to the limbic system (part of the brain concerned with memory and emotion) where smell is registered. The oils may be used in a variety of ways: massage, baths, compresses, vapourisation or inhalation.
The physical benefits of massage are well known and include improving blood circulation, aiding pain relief and easing tension, cramp and stiffness in the muscles. The deep relaxation which results from massage is the benefit most noted.

Aromatherapy is very relaxing and can help stress, tension and depression. It can also offer other benefits: a course of treatment may lead to an improvement in respiratory or urinary infections, may be of benefit for skin conditions such as acne or eczema and for digestive problems or menstrual difficulties.
