Avoid, Avoid, Avoid The service doesn’t live up to the quality promised on it’s website. I had a large quantity of slides scanned in the summer of 2011, and was very disappointed with the results; all the scans all came out far too dark, and the colours on some of the scans were very distorted, and in some cases looked nothing like those on the original scans. They tried to blame the poor quality of the scans on deterioration of the slides themselves. However the slides were fine and if the scans had looked like the actual slides I would have been very happy. In a lot of cases, white cloudy skies that were depicted on the slides, came out as turquoise on the scans, which was frankly bizarre. I was very upset that some of my precious slides came back damaged because they hadn’t been packaged properly. In some cases the slide surrounds were broken and the transparency/film section had gone missing. I discussed the problems and the company promised to re-scan them. Months went past before anything happened, and the slides were finally picked up for re-scanning in March 2012. I then heard nothing for months. I emailed, rang and left messages in June and July 2012 to see how things were going on - but no response. I eventually got through and managed to speak to someone in early September and asked them to email through some examples of the re-scans. These were not sent until the beginning of October - and the results were worse than the original scans. On three separate occasion when I rang to speak to the owner - James Mawson - about the ongoing poor scan quality, he had magically ‘just popped out of the office for a meeting'. Alarm bells started to ring. I eventually spoke to another employee about the issue, who although very pleasant and apologetic, when pushed admitted that after 6 months they had only just started doing the re-scans. Not impressive. After all the hassle I realised that there was absolutely no point in pushing things further, and I concluded the company didn’t really didn't know what they were doing and weren’t capable (or had no intention) of doing the job properly. So I decided to cut my losses and asked them to send the slides back. Thankfully they arrived back within a week! I would recommend anyone wanting to use this company for slide scanning, to get them to do a few first of all to judge the quality for yourself. And if you then experience any of the problems that I encountered remember that you heard it here first.....
