I cant believe some of the other reviewers £3.50p for an all you can eat Carvery is exceptional value. It seems that other posters believe you should be met at the door and escorted to a table.Well this happens at few places and would add greatly to the cost of the meal

No explination of the seating process. A case of find your own table then buy a ticket from the bar to take up to the servers. Not keen on paying before I get my food. What happens if it's no good ? Thank you Sir but we have your money now goodbye.

Christmas at Mill Farm

Service

Quality

Having had good reviews, we decided to take 18 members of our family to Mill Farm on Christmas Day and boy was it a mistake! We were told twice and in writing that 2.00 pm was our start time for our meal and we had to be there for it otherwise lose our place. We all got there for 1.50 and told them. We told them at 20 past and at half past. We enquired whether we had been forgotton after that - especially when our Diabetic relative had to get something from the bar because he felt ill! Then at quarter to 3, we went and asked whether they were taking the mick. At ten to , again we enquired whether we were actually getting a table. Finally we were called over. The 'manageress' told us that she was sorry and people had overstayed (which we know but another two tables were given away to people arriving after us - after 18 is hard to miss!), anyhow, she gave us complimentary wines and soft drinks for those who required them. As we went to sit down (hard seeing as armed chairs were put at the top making it difficult to get in and out!), our starters were arriving - before we had sat down!. When we sat, we had no spoons. We then asked for spoons, and again 5 minutes later, we asked for spoons - oh and more bread for soup as we had 2 slices (cut up) for two tables! We then asked for small spoons for the children - and some glasses for the wine. We were told that there were no glasses. We didnt see any more bread or the small spoons. After the starter, we waited for somebody to collect the plates. After 5 minutes, the kids were getting fed up and the special needs step daughter started biting her arms. After nearly ten minutes, we collected all the plates up so we could get the main meal from the carvery. When we finally all got to sit, it was lovely - if little cool due to the group having to stand up each time somebody wanted to pass. At this point again we asked for glasses and got told that there were no glasses. We waited fr the plates to be collected and were told that we could no longer have drinks from the bar as it was closing and to see somebody who will help. That somebody never appeared. Upon the puddings being put out, we asked for spoons and a drink because we couldnt have the wine!!!! We got the spoons flung on the end of the table! The waitress then walked off. When we spotted somebody cleaning a table away we shouted over to see if she could come and see us. She walked off. Again we shouted at somebody else (i say we shouted as it was the only way to get eye contact!!!!). Eventually we asked if maybe we could have a pint glass to have our drink. We eventually got coke glasses. It was the worst day of our year. The staff were rude. We were overcharged at the bar (and suprisingly our ~£5 wasnt found! so beware), and the service was totally and utterley crap. Our Christmas gift to the family was a nightmare and we will never set foot in there again.Oh by the way, i did write a letter as i did aske the barmaid to pass on my number to the Manager and tell the person to ring - to no avail, and i also e-mailed the brewary. When we fnally got a call, we were offered an extra Christmas meal. We said no way so he said he would give us our money back and a complimentary meal in a Stafford Restaurant to make up for it. We collected our money last Sunday. Again the bar staff were pig ignorant!!!!! We got our money but no meal voucher as promised. To be honest, i think we deserve more. We arent difficult people but it was disgustingYou have been warned!

Do not go here, food has a cheap price thanks to even cheaper quality but the lowest thing is the customer service. Drinks are over priced tro compensate. Go somewhere better, its not hard.

Fair carvery, there are better in the area, there are plenty worse. Added benefit of being a minutes walk from the train station, which is its main use from me....
