About

Welcome

Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions a family makes. Decisions are based upon a number of factors, including a school's reputation, its location, its facilities, but most importantly its ‘product': the pupils in the school.

About Us

Moreton is seen as a forward-looking school where we value academic success and extra-curricular achievement equally. The school is known for being small, friendly and open, not cluttered by petty rules, but with a clear set of values agreed upon and respected by all members of the school community.

Established in 1913 by the Lloyd–Williams family, today Moreton is proud to be one of the UK's highest achieving independent schools, educating girls from age 3-18 and boys from 3-11. We also have First Steps Nursery for 1-4 year olds.

The School

Academic excellence, a tailored curriculum, outstanding pastoral care and extra-curricular activities of an extraordinary range and quality are the cornerstones of the school.

Every pupil is nurtured and encouraged to fulfil their potential – our aim, to stretch the most able and support the least confident, informs and guides all that we do.

Once you have browsed the website and requested a prospectus, come and visit us and find out why Moreton Hall, in the words of the Tatler Good Schools Guide, is such a ‘cracking school – trouncing local and national rivals on all fronts'.

Just let us know when you would like to visit.

Overview

Moreton Hall starts with ‘First Steps Nursery', our nursery for girls and boys aged one and above. Those first steps lead naturally to ‘Moreton First', our own preparatory school, housed in the unique ‘Toblerone' building. Boys leave us at the age of eleven, girls move through automatically to Moreton Hall at 11+.

Boarding can begin in Moreton First at the age of eight - full time, flexi-time or occasionally – and this pattern continues throughout Moreton Hall, although the majority of girls board on a full time basis as they move up through the school. By Sixth Form over 90% of girls board.

Almost all Sixth Formers will go to university where, undoubtedly, they will come to realise that other skills they have acquired here are perhaps just as important as the academic.

During term time our programme runs seven days a week. We are happy for boarders to go home some weekends, but most choose to stay in to take advantage of the many academic, social and cultural opportunities available to them at weekends. Our staff provides 24-hour academic and pastoral support, which was described in the recent inspectors' report as being ‘of an outstandingly high quality'. The emphasis is on learning independence within a supportive community, giving every student the freedom to develop as a responsible individual.
