About

Headteachers Welcome

A warm welcome to all

At Nishkam Primary School, we are privileged to have caring children, a beautiful building, supportive parents, committed governing body and staff whose efforts are underpinned by the drive to see every child succeed.

The primary purpose of the school is the drive for academic excellence. This is exceptionally important in our aspirations for pupils to exceed national standards. This academic success is based on meeting the holistic needs of children. The education model encompasses ‘Every Child Matters,' and ‘The Good Childhood Enquiry' We believe an outstanding education and a sense of moral purpose based on core values, are the greatest gifts that we can give our children in preparation to be future leaders, responsible citizens and lifelong learners

The school offers the full range of National Curriculum subjects. This is further enriched through faith and language studies. A wide range of extra-curricular experiences, both during and after school enable us to nurture the interests and talents of our pupils.

The philosophy of education at Nishkam School is to provide rich and meaningful experiences through a teaching and learning based on enquiry, creative and critical thinking, reasoning, self-awareness and empathy. We embrace the rich resource of the community to provide active and vibrant learning opportunities and develop in children, aspirations, skills, attitudes and dispositions for the 21st century.

Our faith-inspired values define the character of education. Worshipping collectively is an important feature of the School. The Sikh Dharam (Faith or Religion) is emphatic in respecting all faiths and our unique multi-faith ethos reflect this by nurturing children of any faith.

We welcome parents as equal partners in their child's education and feel this is crucial to our success.

‘the school should be designed to be a warm friendly place with a homelike environment, where parental involvement is high," Rudolf Steiner

Visitors to our school comment on the warm, purposeful environment where pupils are well – mannered and respectful.

The education at Nishkam Primary School is inclusive, with regards to faith, culture, language and special educational needs. We hope you will enjoy our school as much as we do.

Pupil Progress

The experiences, environment and relationships during the early years plays a crucial role in the child's overall development.

The education and curriculum offered at Nishkam School is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and the National Curriculum. We work to these guidelines whilst enriching the curriculum and extending the child's experience to achieve wholesome learning and foster children's ‘Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development.' Children's education in the academic subjects is enriched with opportunities to collaborate with Universities, business and community organisations. Parents and families have vital roles to play and to support. Learning from our heritage, history, religion, language and culture, these elements as well as enrichment activities such as sport, music and performing arts be incorporated within the child's daily life.
