A Healthcare Profession

Traditional Chinese medicine is the second most practised medical system in the world. Today, one quarter of the world's population uses one or more of its therapies including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, tui-na massage, diet therapy, tai chi and qi gong exercise to maintain health and wellness.
The effectiveness of Chinese medicine lies in its ability to diagnose and treat each individual as a whole, both physically and emotionally. This is possible because Chinese medicine organises all of the observable signs of human life into a comprehensive system of functions and relationships.
It is a well known saying that “the superior physician prevents disease before it occurs." Throughout its long history, Chinese medicine physicians developed many theories and practical measures that could be applied in daily life to help people recognise and protect themselves against the causes of illness.
Many of these ideas and concepts are woven into the fabric of Chinese culture today. They are not complex and reflect an understanding of health and nature that is shared by many ordinary members of Chinese society as part of their upbringing. Using food as medicine is an integral part of Chinese and Asian food culture. Exercises such as tui na massage and tai chi are popularly practised worldwide.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

Erase 5-15 years from your face without surgery or injections. Look and feel your best with Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture. Cosmetic surgery, Botox and Collagen injections, microdermabraision, and similar procedures dominate the beauty industry. These procedures are painful, expensive and can be dangerous and disfiguring.
If you are seeking a gentle, effective, and safe way to combat ageing, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is the answer.
This esthetic healing technique gently corrects the signs of ageing while bestowing health and serenity. The effects of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture can last for years with regularly scheduled maintenance treatments.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture has been shown to increase collagen production and aids in its dispersal thus helping to firm the skin and fill out wrinkles. Fine lines may be entirely eliminated and deeper wrinkles diminished. Improved muscle tone and dermal contraction helps firm jowls and minimize double chins, while improved fluid metabolism reduces bags under the eyes and lifts droopy eyelids. Other likely results include: moisturising of the skin with increased local circulation of blood and lymph to the face; brightening of the eyes; improving of hormonal balance to help acne; reduction of stress evident in the face – bringing out your innate beauty and radiance.Cosmetic Acupuncture is a painless, non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the ageing process. Healthy facial colouring can be restored and there can be a tightening of the pores. Habitual expressions resulting from stress will be transformed, resulting in a remarkably younger, calmer, and less worn looking face.
The procedure works for men too, although not as many men request it.

Emotional & Mental Health

Stress is a very common health issue for individuals and society. When the body displays signs of stress, this affects not only the individual, but their family, friends and the people around them. When we are unable to deal with stress in our lives, anxiety and depression can occur. Sometimes this can lead to serious events including suicide and violence if not helped.
Chinese Medicine considers it is very important to find out why we are suffering from stress, which internal organs are associated with stress and how to avoid excessive stress.
Human emotional issues are strongly associated with certain internal organs. Liver and Heart are the main organs which dominate emotional issues. Generally, long-term or acute emotional issues can lead to damage to the Liver and Heart function. You may experience some or all of the symptoms. Sometimes, if the Liver or Heart are weakened, and the body is unable to handle pressure from external sources, this will result in the symptoms.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been practised for more than 2,500 years in China. In just a few decades, acupuncture has become the most popular and widely recognised therapy of Chinese medicine in the western world.
The practice of acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles into specific acupuncture points on the body to restore balance and treat disease.
The practice of acupuncture is not so much about inserting needles as it is about understanding the physiology of the body. One integral component of Chinese medicine is channel theory, that a network of channels (sometimes called meridians) exist to connect all parts of the body including the skin, external senses and the internal organs. This network forms a system which regulates the transport of nutrients, functioning of organs and defence of the body against pathogens.

My initial consultation with Dr Mei was very comprehensive. He asked so many questions about my health! I think that is why I'm getting such wonderful results. My arthritis pain is so much better right after the first two treatments of Acupuncture and Cupping Massage and I love coming for my treatments. I get such personal and attentive care, it's one of the best treatments I've ever had.

I went at oriental herbs in Glasgow, Dumbarton Rd, for a tuina massage, but I wasn't happy at all. I know acupuncture, acupressure and tuina massage very well, because my best friend is a Chinese acupuncture doctor in London. The acupressure massage and the tuina massage in Oriental herbs in Dumbarton rd, was incomplete and not enough. I told the doctor I had a back pain, and he gave me a massage only focusing in the back and not all body too, like a proper tuina and acupressure massage should be. In fact a real, good tuina and acupressure masage shuld be done in all body not only in one particular painful part. So the energy of yin and yang will be distributed in all body giving at the same time a general and focus benefit to the patient. And it should be done with a medium touch not too strong not too soft. But the doctor in Dumbarton rd only focused on my back, doing the massage in a very disorientated way, without following a particular direction. His touch was too much soft and too delicate. He didn't touch the chakras (or the dantian)of my head that is very important during the tuina massage, he didn't massage the meridian of my legs, or my face, or my stomach at all. At the end my yin and yang energy were disturbed, and I felt a bit confused. The energy wasn't distributed int he proper way. I had the impression that the tuina massage was incomplete and that need it long time and more money before fixing the problem.

The rather modest frontage conceals an elegant interior, with a good selection of teas and tea-making equipment. Well worth a visit for the friendly welcome, and just round the corner from Partick's transport hub, with bus, train and subway links.
