Log splitter

I was smitten by the prospect of a log splitter that will carve through even the most knotty of logs as apparently promised by the oxdale demonstration video. So I bought one to go on the back on my 18hp compact tractor. But there is a dilemma. I soon found that, if your tractor is less than approx 30 hp, it doesn't have the hydraulic pressure needed to power the ram through those knotty logs (and this isn't made clear in the ads). So I was advised that I needed the log splitter / pto pump combination which does enable a smaller tractor to produce the required hydraulic pressure to power through the larger, more challenging logs. However (and this is the dilemma) if you've a small tractor like mine there isn't room to mount the splitter with the required hydraulic oil tank and pump on the three point linkage - it just doesn't fit. I'm still not sure how the product can be marketed as it is with no mention of the limitations. I've cobbled together a way of operating it but it's not the easy, no nonsense product it seems.
