Before you make a commitment to purchase a property you should have it inspected by a Chartered Surveyor; it's a ‘no brainer' to use the modern terminology. Before undertaking any work that is covered by the Act there is a requirement to serve a party wall notice. If that notice is not consented to, party wall surveyors must be appointed and an ‘Award' produced.
