Our superb bar and restaurant provides a varied selection of dishes; and our wine list is comprehensive enough for a wine connoisseur. What's so special about us? Whether you're looking for a comfortable base from which to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside or you want to arrange a main event such as a wedding or a conference, the Red Lion Hotel will be your ideal choice.National Railway: Fareham
Oh what a disappointment! Stayed here on business on the recommendation of a work colleague and having sampled the bar before. This is an Old English Inn owned by the brewers Greene King and, as with other Greene King establishments I have experienced, it is run down and in need of TLC. It could be lovely - part of it is Grade II listed.I sampled two different bedrooms. Both were small with single beds and with minimal desk area - yet both had a trouser press!. The en-suite was clean enough but badly in need of refurbishment - sealant was peeling away for instance. The heating was a nightmare (it was January)and I had to complain FOUR times during a two-week stay. The television in my room kept switching itself off for no reason (energy saving!?)yet complaints to Reception were not acted upon. On arrival, I found the bath mat covered in blood stains. The restaurant and menu looked inviting. But no, they didn't seem to be able to cook fish - how can fillet of plaice be hard on the top? And it took them ages to find a fish knife! So, all in all, not a good experience. I won't be staying here again.
