About

Reface - Glass Scratch Removal Specialists....

Glazing damaged as a result of scratching, or which has become so heavily stained that conventional window cleaning techniques are ineffective, needs professional restoration. REFACE are market leaders in scratched glass repair and offer a comprehensive range of on-site solutions, none of which require the glass to be removed from its frame at any time during the restoration process.

We even pioneered a glass scratch removal process for the restoration of installed glazing that remains unique today. With competitive processes, there is a visible distortion in the glass after repair, known as 'lensing'. The REFACE scratched glass repair solution does not result in any such distortion.

The scratch removal process and surfaces suitable for treatment....

Effective glass scratch removal is achieved through the use of ultra-hard glass polishing compounds. These are applied by hand and a great deal of skill is required to blend in the treated area with the surrounding surface. Several stages are involved and when the glass scratch or mark has finally been removed, a powered optical polishing machine is used to completely restore the polish of the treated glass surface. The Reface process can be used on any type of flat glass such as ~ toughened ~ float ~ plate ~ laminated ~ armoured ~ fire retardant ~ heat treated ~ radiation and other specialised glass. As the technique is based on re-surfacing the glass, the process cannot be applied to textured glass, or glass with a surface coating on the damaged side. All treated areas will meet and considerably exceed the Glass and Glazing Federation's standard for 'Visual Quality' in respect of surface faults. This requires that no fault should be visible when the glass is viewed at normal incidence, distance of 2 metres (3 metres for toughened and laminated glass), in transmitted normal daylight.

As a result of the REFACE process, there is no detectable loss of strength, or change in the fracture properties of the glass.
