Decided To Give Sam's A Go!!

After passing Sam's every day for work, decided to give it a try. Booked a table for 7pm Last Saturday for 2. Arrived at 6.55pm & we were warmly greeted on arrival. We were taken to our table, which was a booth, big enough for 4, so ample room for the 2 of us. We were given the menu's & wine list from the friendly waiter. He took our drinks order & was back with them within 2 to 3 minutes. We felt the menu was not very extensive & to be fair was a little disappointing. We chose our 2 initial courses, starters consisting of Pak Chuck Prawns & Chowjm Spare Ribs. They arrived within 5 to 7 minutes of ordering. I had the Ribs, which were succulent & the meat fell off the bone & had the right amount of flavour & spices & would highly recommend them. My partner enjoyed the succulent king prawns & she said she would have them again. Our mains were served within 8 to 10 minutes of them taking away our empty starters. The main courses were Gollo Prawns & Beef Curry with egg fried rice for the prawns & special fried rice with the curry. Would have ordered chips, but they were not on the menu. The portion size of the main courses were on the small side, however my beef curry was very nice, with plenty of beef, onions & peppers & was spicy enough for my taste. The special rice was a little dry, but worked well with the sauce of the curry. The gollo prawns were done in a light batter & in a sweet & sour sauce, I tried a prawn & I would have been satisfied if I had chose them. My partner really enjoyed them, but she said there was too little sauce as she still had aprox 1/2 her rice to eat, which she left. Normally we would not have a sweet, but we did at Sam's. We both chose Strawberry cheesecake, out of 3 3 starters there was. The cheesecake was nice, but only offered with or without cream. The service up to this point was very prompt & very impressive. Our plates were cleared & I asked for another lager, which I am still waiting for. After 15 minutes of no attention, we had to stop a waiter & ask for our bill. We also were not impressed with the compulsory 10% service charge added to the bill, which came to £48.60 for both of our 3 courses & 1 drink each. The atmosphere, ambiance & décor was very pleasing & both of us would recommend Sam's to all. They have a grand piano, which we heard gets played, but when we were there it was not. The staff were friendly & polite at all times, forging them for the oversight on the lager. Give Sam's a try & you will not be disappointed.
