Restaurant - Seafood in Sutton-in-Ashfield

this place is seriously out dated, the food is bland and the staff are cheap (i could smell alcohol and smoke on the lady serving me on saturday morning!). i have had a few bad copies of cod (charged at full price) but this was the worst. the seating in the restaurant was very outdated. it is fixed to floor seating, which is uncomfortable and unpractical. the place seems well over seated, while there i felt completely confined and cramped! this place seriously needs redesigning! if you are expecting a traditional fish and chip restaurant you are going to be disappointed. this is very tacky. and the word restaurant is a bit of an exaggeration. as it is just a bigger version of a bog standard old style (1980) cafe. by the end of my visit, i wasn't sure which i was more fed up with, the food, sloppy service or filthy floor tiles. however, in their favor the portions were large, but i would have travelled a little further, or payed a little extra for quality fish and chips.

This is one of the two best fish and chip shops in Sutton-in-Ashfield, but this one has soemthing going for it the other one hasn't, a large cafe-style seating area. The shop is located in the bustling town market place, which makes it popular with shoppers keen to sit down and enjoy a nice lunch. The menu has everything that you'd expect from a chip shop, and the fish and chips are excellent quality. The chips have the reputation locally of being the best in Sutton. The portions are enormous and even just a small portion of chips is enough to feed two normal sized persons! Service is friendly and swift, but as mentioned before, it is popular so expect to queue at lunchtimes (although you'll never be waiting too long).
