Sensei Malcolm ensures a focused yet friendly environment which enthuses children and adults. My 2 boys have trained with Sensei Malcolm for over 2 years and really enjoy their Karate. I have recently joined and look forward to learning and mastering the techniques. I'd recommend Sensei Malcolm to anyone wanting to take up Karate or to improve and develop.

Superb Martial Arts Club

This excellent club is run by Sensei Malcolm Bates (4th Dan), an experienced instructor who teaches a self-defence based Shotokan system for adults and Shotokan for Children. I have been a member for nearly 3 years and have found the club quite an inspiration. My own interest and knowledge in martial arts has improved vastly as a result. Its a friendly club and you will always get a warm welcome.

My children aged 10, 9 and 8 have trained with Sensei Malcolm for approximately 2 years and have really enjoyed being club members. They have gained knowledge and skill of which they are justifiably proud and the training has given them confidence, physical fitness self discipline and a real sense of achievement. Sensei Malcolm has an excellent manner with the children keeping their interest by constantly introducing new training ideas.

Having spent over 15 years in martial arts since joing this club I feel I am finally starting to understand "real" karate. Sensei Malcolm is a superb teacher with an excellent knowledge of the martial arts. I would recommend trying this friendly club.

The attitude I was looking for

Service

Just over two years ago I researched various Martial Arts clubs locally. Having spoken to the people that run the clubs, I found Malcolm Sensei taught in a way that suited me, for the spirit and history of the Art, for self protection if needed, not all out aggression. He continues to be a inspirational instructor. There are a good bunch of students there too, which makes training more enjoyable. A good club to join.

True Spirit of Karate

After trying my hand at a number of martial arts and visiting different clubs I was lucky enough to come across Shin Gi Tai and Sensei Malcolm Bates in 2005. Although I had risen to brown belt in Judo before trying karate I was becoming a little disillusioned with it and the things I was learning, and felt there must be more to this art which is so fascinating. Shin Gi Tai was the answer a friendly, well run club and dedicated Sensei who rekindled my enthusiasm to new heights. Sincere thanks! Tony
