SIDCUP AUCTIONS-TRY THEM ALL

Have just read the reviews must add that that the majority of items are for the lower end of the market (great for bootsales). Have only been there once and did have to wait sometime for the toilet also noticed that the toilet area was being used to wash up cups & saucers not sure about that. But was clean with toilet paper etc in plenty. I was of the impression that under Health & Safety laws you had to have individual toilets for both men & women and that did put me off. But you can always go to Morrisons between Lots which is only a short walk and use their conveniences. Auctions are Auctions and everyone has there own opinions try Gordon Days wonderful atmosphere and only 7% yes there is VAT but do not all businesses making over £70,000 have to pay Vat as a legal requirement? But an interesting way to spend a Saturday and a nice cup of Coffee to boot.

I thoroughly enjoy every visit I make to this place. The atmosphere is great. It is a veritable treasure trove for antiques and collectables. I wouldnt miss the auctions, and I am always staggered at the quality, quantity and variety of the lots. As for the person who complained about the 2012 end auction.....I was there too I had a great time. Also if you had looked when you came out of the tiolet you would have seen the place to wash your hands.....you cant miss it it got taps on it!!!!!!!! Still if you keep away that means there are more bargains for me!!!!!!

Definitely not a wasted Saturday!

I went to this auction after my friend recommended it. She had purchased a fabulous wardrobe for her room, at a fraction of the cost of my online shopping spree. She suggested a visit one Saturday, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. It was busy, but I believe that shows the quality of the auction. The staff were extremely friendly, and the atmosphere buzzing. Toilet and sink (which I used to wash my hands!) were clean, and even though there is one toilet, there wasn't a huge queue considering how busy it was. The catalogue is a great guide to the auction, good value for money and as far as I could see no had no mistakes. A fab day out, great auction, and hand washing facilities. What more could you want?

My friend of my wife's recommended that I "pop in" to this auction as it is a great local place to find an array of goods at reasonable prices. I browsed the catalogue, which gave me a all of the information I needed. I knew exactly what I was going to bid for, and the guide prices were reasonable and on point. Pleasant staff, busy but vibrant atmosphere. Fully intend to go back. Ps – Never saw any spelling mistakes, but did notice the correct use of capital letters and lower case. ;-)

Only been once, but I thought it was brilliant. A friend who goes regularly took me when i bought a house, and to be honest I wasn't expecting to find much, but I ended up getting some gorgeous furniture at a fraction of what I'd expect to pay in the shops, and some really unusual crockery which loads of people have complemented me on. The informative brochure and super-friendly staff helped make it a pleasurable experience. I'll definately go again (I keep finding stuff I like on the website and convincing myself that I really need it!)

I have just read the review below and I am astonished by what has been said. I have been attending Sidcup auctions since they opened three years ago. We all understand as human beings that certain times of the year (Christmas & New Year) places such as shops, restaurants and even this auction house is going to be busier than usual. I also like to see this as a sign that they have good items to sell and with a low 10% commission, you can't beat it! The staff are always friendly and eager to help which in my mind is a plus. The catalogue is a rough guide for the sale with great information. I can't remember ever seeing spelling mistakes but maybe I don't look as hard to find fault over something so trivial. I guess some people have more time on their hands. I would also like to comment regarding the toilet. There is only one toilet but it is clean for all to use and I'm pretty sure the sink outside the toilet door is where your suppose to wash your hands - I just don't know how it could of been missed!?! The auction is great place to come. You will meet friendly staff and I bet you will see and buy some great items. Don't be put off by one person's narrow opinion and come see for yourself.

I was also at this auction

I was also at that auction at the end of December and to be quite honest I do not know what you are going on about Anne. Yes it was packed, and yes the prices were quite high for that week but they did have quite a lot of General Public in for that sale.If you came to the next sale you would of noticed the prices come back down to normal. I buy a lot from Sidcup Auctions and it earns me quite a good profit each fortnight I wish all the other auctions earnt me as much money as this one does. The thing is they have a wide selection of items for everyone. OK Yes they do have only one toilet, but so do Orpington and Watermans have only two which are outside. There is also sink to wash your hands. The auction is a very friendly auction, the staff are always pleasant but maybe cam across unhelpful because they were busy. Anyway I would reccomend visiting the auction if you are in the trade or public.

Good Auction Great Website Cheap Commission

I disagree with the comment below, I was also at that auction which was busier than normal because it was in between christmas and New Year. 900 lots from Bric a Brac at £5 to antiques at £500 so something for everyone. The catalogue is a rough guide but has very good details and I didn't see any spelling mistakes but I am not that petty. The toilets, yes there is only one but it is clean and I am sure the sink with the soap and towel when you come out is a place to wash your hands.. Just Saying. Staff are very happy and friendly in my opinion and very welcoming.. I also attend the other two auctions so know what I am talking about, they too have faults but I think I can give an opinion on all as I attend each auction regular and I know what items are in them al each week. Do not judge an auction by one visit go again you will enjoy it as I do every fortnight. You do not mention the cheap commission rates or very good website, it is a shame you comment on something on just one visit..

A WASTED SATURDAY

A MOST DREADFUL END TO 2012. I WENT ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF A FRIEND. OVER 200 PEOPLE WITH JUST ONE TOILET AND NO WHERE TO WASH YOUR HANDS. ITEMS BEING SOLD WERE NO BETTER THAN A BAD BOOTSALE FOR SOME REASONS STUPID AMOUNTS OF MONEY WERE BEING PAID. UNHELPFUL STAFF PLUS THE PRICE GUIDE HELD SO MANY SPELLING MISTAKES IT WAS A WASTE OF £1.00. I THINK NOT. GIVE THIS ONE A MISS AT ALL COSTS AND VISIT ORPINGTON & WATERMANS AUCTIONS.
