The Spice Lounge - Contemporary Indian Restaurant and Take Away in Oxford
At the Spice Lounge the emphasis is on organic and creative dishes. Ethnic recipes are used to provide a diverse, unusual menu, while focusing on healthy eating.
Wherever possible we buy local foods with most of our purchases from our chef's personal recommendations.
The Contemporary decor of our restaurants has been designed to create a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy the excellent cuisine, with friendly service from our expert staff.

Good Value Vibrant Modern Indian
I was introduced to Spice Lounge by my husband's 100 year old grandmother! But the place on Banbury Road is modern and with no flock wallpaper in sight: brown-leather covered dining chairs, reasonably tasteful photos of India and food-related items on the walls, cube-like tables. The service was welcoming and friendly, and the food, on this and another visit, was excellent, considering very reasonable prices, especially for Oxford. The welcome plate of poppadums comes with a selection of lovely sauces, and the curries themselves are few notches above your average Indian local/take away standard: bursting with fresh ingredients, zingy, spicy where necessary and mild when required. The nan was the best I ever tasted!Both times we came in lunch time, so I can't comment on evening audience, but in the lunchtimes the customers were varied, mostly professional looking, young to middle aged. There was some unobtrusive ambient music and the atmosphere was relaxed but not slobby: smart causal would be the best description.All in all, excellent place and well worth a try if looking for an Indian in Summertown. They do take away too!

Bhaji-tastic
The Spice Lounge is my first choice when it comes to ordering an Indian takeaway. I must confess that I have not yet eaten in but will definitely do so soon. The food is of an excellent quality, (the onion bhajis are not to be missed) and tastes vibrant and fresh. The menu offers a large number of dishes suitable for all tastes and the staff are able to offer sensible advice on the level of spiciness! Extras are delivered with your meal as standard (free poppadoms and sauces) and the food always arrives hot. The delivery time is usually between thirty and forty-five minutes and represents good value for money.

Good Stuff
The Spice Lounge in Summertown has rapidly become our favourite Indian. Whilst we've never eaten in the Restaurant, it looks clean, well laid out and has a nice atmosphere.We used to pop in to collect takeout quite frequently, but more recently we tend to get them to deliver, which they do free within a couple of miles and you can pay by card over the phone, so you can get an indian even when you have no cash - very dangerous. Delivery can be a little slow on busy nights, but they tell you ahead of time how long it will take and it always turns up with the correct items.The food itself is always nicely made, I'm not fond of dishes that are too spicey, but have found the Korma, Pasanda and Tikka Masala to be very tasty and, more importantly, quite distinct. Too often these days all the mild curries taste the same, so it's nice to find a place that puts effort into each of them.The side orders are also very well made, the Saag Aloo and onion bhajias are particular favourites.Spice Lounge is definitely one of the better curries about and I highly recommend it.
