Welcome to Tailor Maid, we provide tailoring services for all clothing alterations /repairs wedding dress alterations, dress making and soft furnishing service and express service available.
About Us
Tailor Maid was established in April 2006 by Paula Lodge.
Paula has been a tailor serving in the Wigan Lancashire and the North West for many years and as such has gained a wealth of experience and expertise in Tailoring repairs and alterations of all kinds of clothing and fabrics.
You'll find Paula friendly and efficient and you'll be delighted with the attention to detail when it comes to tailoring and alterations
Our Services
Tailor Maid is situated at 113a Downall Green Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield. We provide a professional tailoring, alterations, repair and dry cleaning service for Ladies, Gentlemans and Childrens clothing.
We provide a a full bridal alteration service for the bride,bridesmaid and all wedding party plus a professional dry cleaning service for that special day.
We also can provide a dressmaking service for those occassions you would like something extra special i.e. prom dress , bridesmaid, fancy dress and club wear. Call us on 01942 734692 for a free quotation.
We can do all aspects of clothing alterations no matter how big or small.

fantastic service
helo would just like to drop a line visited taylor maid with my coat which needed altering vasley paula said leave it with me well sort it went to colect my coat all i can say is excelent first class service and very nice lady will be coming back in the future excelent servicexx

brilliant service! when I damaged a friends evening gown on a night out Tailor Maid came to the rescue and repaired it beautifully. I would highly recommend them!

Fantastic!
Paula really saved the day. Only three weeks before my wedding and the dress I had bought was too small. She did a fantastic job and was super quick. Cannot fault customer service absolutely brilliant! Very happy with the finished product and will be dropping off a slice of cake to say thanks!.

Life Saver
Just to share our opinion about ' Taylor Maid ' - My daughters prom dress wouldn't fit and we were in a panic about what to do. We gave them a call and had them check the dress out. They came up trumps for us and altered the dress and our daughter did go to the ball. We were very pleased with the work and it saved us buying another 'Prom ' dress days before the event. Thank you!

paula what can i say about you, ur a total life saver, and saved my big day, from being spoiled, by the previous dressmaker, after spoiling 3 dresses out of 4, i am so gratefull for what you ave done, fitting the dress in so quick. and correcting it, so i know now as the girls will be very happy and comfortable, in there remade dresses, all thanx to you ur a star, my day gonna be perfect, thanx alot to you, il ave a big smile on mi face, knowing everyone dresses are purfect thanx to you,

bridemaid dress
after having my wedding dress altered by paula, was avin a chat with paula about my daughter bridemaid dress, as my daughter was complaining about the dress not feeling right, previous it had been to a dress maker what was recommended to me by the bridal shop, so i used the lady what was recomended to me to alter my daughter dress, and she messed it up good style, so i took it to paula and she could not believe what the dress maker had done, so paula had to rectified the damage, thanx paula,

wedding dress plus bridemaid dress
after trying my wedding dress prior two weeks to the wedding, and found out it was to big, i rang tailor made straight away (sat) they was very very helpful and told me to bring it on the monday which i did and even tho they was very busy, paula took my dress of me and altered, which i really appericated, picked the dress up and it was perfect, so thankyou very much paula ur a life saver, thanx again, and i will recomend you to anyone who is a dire straits, as i can recomend the job will be done

Super alteration
I have just collected a blazer that needed a sleeve replacing a hole had been worn in it by the badge ,this is somewhat special being a captains attire. Paula did a most excellent job at a very fair price and i have absolutely no reservations in recommending the services of Tailor Maid to any one many thanks

Bridesmaid
After being let down badly by my supplier for my bridesmaid, the dresses arriving only a week before the wedding! Tailor maid came to my rescue Paula got the dresses done and dusted within a couple of days and they looked fabulous. I always take everything there now for alteration and would recommend anyone to use it first!

Suit alteration
I recently had a suit altered (trousers shortened, arm length taken in and main suit buttons moved) and it was carried to a high quality. The service was superb with Paula measuring up the changes whilst I was in the shop. Highly recommended.

**DEFO USE AGAIN** VERY PROFESSIONAL**
Well all I can say is "Tailor Maid" came to my rescue after I was let down by 5 local sewers who all attempted,,,,,messed things up,,,, including me for over 7 mths. After being reccommended by a friend who worked in a fabric shop who told me "Take them to Paula she can do them for you+ she'll do a good job" I didn't hold out much hope as I'd had 1 disaster after another, I'd nearly given up hope of ever seeing them finished. Paula took them on even though the other lady was on hol +she was on her own she promised me she's sort,,,,,,, nothing was too much trouble. That was a couple of weeks ago+ Im glad to say they are now proudly up and have finished my room off completely. I give Tailor Maid 5***** cos I got a 1st class proffessional service at a very reasonable cost. What a lovely Lady she did what she said + finished the job!!!

Soft Furnishings
I can't recommend Paula enough for her outstanding work. I've had quite a few soft furnishing items made by Paula and have been more than satisfied with the results. I have recommended her to everyone I know and will definately be using her services again.

Band Backdrop
I thought it worthwhile dropping a few lines about Tailor Maid. I play in a band and we've been trying to get a backdrop made for when play gigs around the North West. We had a logo that we wanted to reproduce but no real idea of how to get it done (we're rock n' roll, after all). We talked to a few people that had connections with the textiles industry but they all wanted high prices, and didn't really seem that interested. Then we stumbled across Tailor Maid, and when we explained what we were looking for Paula just said “ok, leave it with me". Three weeks later, and beating the deadline for the next gig and we've got exactly what we needed, and more, for less than half the price that everyone else wanted. What impressed us the most was not the low cost, but the way nothing was too much trouble and that “all part of the service" approach. This town needs small businesses like Tailor Maid and with this kind of service I can't see how they can fail to grow and prosper
