Welcome

We are a group of interested parties including representatives from Leicestershire County Council, North West Leicestershire District Council, British Coal and Coalville Volunteer Service looked into the possibility of converting unused premises in Coalville into separate units to house emerging businesses. In 1984/85, with a great deal of imagination, foresight and hard work, together with financial assistance from both Councils, British Coal and several other financial backers, a semi-derelict building, which was originally a wagon works for building railway rolling stock, was turned into a basic workspace.

About Us

We offer newly started and small existing companies the type of accommodation which will assist them in running their business efficiently and at moderate cost. With over 70 units and offices of various sizes we can, unlike most other business centres, offer accommodation to all types of companies, not simply office based enterprises. Our phased workspace concept ensures a business can start in a very small unit and, as it grows, can opt to move to a larger unit whenever one becomes available, until the point is reached where the company is ready to move out of the workspace into its own premises. The Springboard Centre is unique in that not only small businesses are based here but also community initiatives. The balance between the community and commercial aspects of the Centre is carefully maintained, to ensure an ideal environment for all occupants. Since opening in 1985 over 430 business or organisations have been based within the centre. The annual average number of jobs based with or connected with The Springboard Centre is over 360.

Office and Workshop Accomodation

We have offices ranges from 14 square metres ( 150 square feet ) to approximately 37 square metres (400 square feet) depending on location within the building. New start businesses benefit from reduced rates increasing gradually over a nine months period. Internal workshop ranges from 28 square metres ( 300 square feet ) to 74 square metres (800 square feet) prices vary according to size and location.Workshop units with outside access are also available, sizes range from 28 square metres ( 350 square feet ) to 185 square metres (2,000 square feet), prices vary according to size and location.
All Licences are subject to one month's deposit and one month's Licence Fee in advance, for a minimum of six months let.

Our Services

The centre comprises of a large reception area, operated by the administration staff employed by the centre and offers switchboard, message and post taking, photocopying and fax, secretarial services, lecture room facilities, dining room and vending machines.
