As soon as you enter The Thai Lounge, you are immediately struck by how contemporary and yet classic looking it is. Solid wood tables and high backed cream leather chairs give the restaurant an air of sophistication, Buddhas, brought back by the owner from Thailand, adorn the walls and transport you to another world in preparation for the culinary delights you are about to enjoy.

If you're looking to sample a variety of what is on offer try the tapas menu offered on Monday evenings, Tuesday to Friday nights from 5pm until 7pm and Friday lunchtimes. It is full of scrumptious dishes such as satay gai – classic marinated chicken with Thai herbs served on bamboo skewers.

Whet your appetite with the poe pia tord – these wonderful fresh spring rolls stuffed with vegetables and vermicelli served with a tasty sweet chilli sauce are a delicate and delicious precursor to the main courses. Go on to try one of the delicious soups, there are so many on offer you will be spoilt for choice.

For the main event choose one of the favourites on the menu mas sa man, a spicy red curry served with the meat of your choice. Or go for one of the sizzlers like Tiger Cry, a grilled beef dish marinated in Thai herbs, garlic and coriander roots served with hot and spicy chilli, shallot, lime juice and crushed roasted rice – an utter pleasure.

A marvellous selection of wines and Thai beers are available to complement your meal. The restaurant also offers excellent set menus, ranging in price from £19.80 to £34.90 per person.
