The team behind The Three Tuns in the centre of Henley, which reopened at the end of May 2010, are celebrating their first award, The Good Food Guide’s Best New Pub. Food is at the heart of the Three Tuns, and Simon’s menu is, like his cooking, to the point and without any superfluous detail. The à la carte offers a choice of four starters, four mains and four desserts, with dishes changing regularly, but including the likes of leeks & goat’s curd with grain mustard; partridge and goose liver, game gravy; and Agen prune and Armagnac cranachan. Fish dishes are offered, along with a daily special, on the blackboard. There’s also a tremendous value set lunch, featuring two courses priced at just £10.
