Great Staff!!
I went to the white lion approx 2 months ago and found the staff to be completely opposite of the previous ladies review.They were friendly and attentive (particularly the large burly chap with tattoos) all smiley and despite being extremely busy they all worked as best they could under huge pressure. Now as i was planning to go to the White Lion for food i booked a table for sunday lunch 2 weeks prior and was flabberghasted to be told that i was the only person on a sunday afternoon to have actually booked a table!! the food it has to be said was not good- i had a paella which judging by the lack of flavour and cold pre cooked chicken was obviously bought in from a company. and at 8.95 i felt it was extremely overpriced. my Wife and her mother both had Pate and toast which,again, was obviously bought in despite the menu claiming all food was home made. I also asked for custard with my choc cake desert instead of cream and was told that the chef wouldnt change the menu-hardly difficult.I have to say we nearly didnt eat at all as walking up the stairs to the restaurant we could all (and my mother in law is 87 and deaf) hear the "chef" using some rather "risque" language which we later found out was due to the amount of orders he was having to "cook". I would go back to this beautiful picturesque canal side pub for the warm friendly staff but i would only go for a drink and certainly not for the food.

Poor
Dont bother to go here. New ownwership. Curt staff, no eye contact, serving people out of turn, no deviation from food menue allowed. I certaintly will not be popping in here again.

Canal country pub
Superbly situated next to the canal in the Hertfordshire village of Marsworth, The White Lion is a pub, deli and restaurant.We've been here several times during the day and always liked it. The large pub garden could do with glamming up a bit, but the inside is smart and much more enjoyable now the no smoking law has come in (isn't everywhere...).I'm sure you'd have to book for evenings and Sunday lunchtimes. Disappointingly, they don't do a killer Bloody Mary, which, given their positioning as a trendy destination place www.whitelionmarsworth.co.uk they should.Menu is long and varied and good value for money.
