About

Welcome To Therapy Wales

We are a dedicated group of professionally qualified therapists providing a high standard of quality complementary health care. Being a group enables us to offer a wide range of therapies from three clinics in North Wales.

About Us

Many of our therapists are lecturers and we run a variety of courses and workshops. All our therapies can safely be used alongside conventional western medicine. Complementary Medicine (CM) includes many different techniques of treating a patient. These are based on systems practised thousands of years ago and can in fact be considered to be of the original forms of medicine. A group of diverse medical care practices. An increasing feature of healthcare. Natural therapy treatments and alternative medicines. They all have one aspect in common which is that they treat the patient as a whole person rather than treating a specific symptom or symptoms. It does this by treating the life force of the patient at their physical, mental and emotional levels.

Counselling

Our counsellor Janet Levin, is BACP Accredited. With over 20 years experience working in education, the health service and private practice. Jin Shin Jyutsu

If you are sensitive to energy therapy for you, said to be "the grandmother of acupuncture" it is a key to acupuncture without needles. I use electromagnetic fields in my own hands to revitalise and heal.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a completely natural therapy on it's own, or with therapeutic massage. It can be used to complement conventional medicine. It uses pure aromatic plant oils to enhance and restore well being, by stimulating the body's own natural healing processes.

Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique is unlike any other form of hands-on therapy. There is no pulling or cracking of joints, no insertion of needles and no manipulation. The technique consists of a sequence of very precise and gentle moves over muscles and soft tissue interspersed with periods of rest in order for the treatment to be absorbed.

Chinese Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese medicine Acupuncture (TCMA) has been used to restore, promote and maintain good health for over 2500 years. According to the tradition our health is dependant on the bodies motivating energy (Qi) moving in a smooth and balanced way through channels under the skin.

Chriropractic

Chiropractic (Greek - done by hand) is a highly trained form of manual alternative healthcare which does not use drugs or surgery.

Cranial Balancing

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle form of holistic body therapy, which supports the body's natural capacity for self-repair and creates the potential for deep relaxation. Our body tissues naturally contract when under physical or emotional stress, such as chronic pain or trauma from injury, and the inherent craniosacral motion becomes compromised. The therapy involves a light hand contact to ‘listen' to these natural tissue and fluid rhythms, promoting a greater expression of vital and balanced motion, tension relief and a revitalised sense of well-being.

Fitness Testing

During consultation with all clients, I carry out the basic health tests such as Blood Pressure, Height, Weight and Body Mass Index. I do, however, offer the opportunity for a full Fitness Test which will take into account your Flexibility, Co-ordination, Resting and Maximum Heart Rate, Lung Condition, Strength, Mobility, Cardio-Vascular and Cardio-Respiratory condition.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine that treats people with mental, emotional and physical illness. As there is no risk of toxic side effects or addiction, it is safe for everyone to use including babies, children, women during pregnancy/breast feeding and the elderly. The medicines taste pleasant, making them easy for children to take.

Indian Head Massage

A highly effective soothing massage technique for the upper back, upper arms, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. The traditional method practised in India has been adapted for use in the western world by Narendra Mehta. It works by physically, unblocking energy and relieving tension to ease aches and pains. Emotionally, by creating a feeling of peace and tranquillity to promote relaxation. Overall an excellent stress reliever! Any existing health problems should be discussed with your therapist during the initial consultation.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphoedema Is a visible swelling of a body part, often an extremity, because of an accumulation of fluid in the tissue. Two main types are seen in the UK which are Primary and Secondary. Primary oten has no obvious cause, sometimes being present at birth. The lower limb is usually where the condition is seen. Onset may be slow and gradual during which time the limbs become pillar shaped. Secondary arises after surgery, infection, trauma and radiotherapy.

Deep Tissue Massage

A deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is not uncommon for receivers of deep tissue massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two.

McTimoney Chiropractic

The McTimoney method of chiropractic was developed by the late John McTimoney over 50 years ago and is taught only at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Abingdon, near Oxford. It is well known for being a precise, whole body approach to chiropractic care. The gentle nature of the McTimoney method makes it especially suitable for people of all ages. McTimoney chiropractic has helped thousands of people for over 50 years and around 150,000 new patients consult a McTimoney Chiropractor each year. Over 8000 people are cared for by McTimoney Chiropractors each working day. UK members of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association are registered with the General Chiropractic Council.

Personal Training

I am a qualified personal trainer, and will, after a full fitness test, work out a programme that you will be able to achieve, regardless of your fitness level, age, condition or disability. This could be to enable you to lose weight, improve your performance in sports or your lifestyle in general. I have also a great deal of experience in dealing with heart-related recovery programmes, having been on the receiving end of heart surgery many years ago. The main reassurance in my personal training methods is that your fitness programme at whatever level will be realistic and tailored to suit YOU.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy that works on the feet or hands enabling the body to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of "imbalance", and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Sports Injury Treatments

I specialize in the treatment of sports related injuries and offer a service to any local clubs or organizations of a free examination, advice and emergency treatment if I am available. Subsequent treatments would, of course, be charged at the normal rate. I generally use Ice, Heat, Ultra-sound and any Natural Therapeutic treatment and will always refer an injury to another specialist if I feel that further investigation or medication is required. I do not prescribe medication and always promote natural healing as the most effective way of repairing

Sports Massage

Sports Therapy Massage can facilitate a general relaxation of the muscular-skeletal system. It can also be directed into specific problem areas where stress or injuries have been experienced. These injuries, or stressed areas, need not have been induced through sporting activities. 'Sports massage' can help to remove the accumulation of general aches and pains.
