A new park and ride facility at Onslow is now open to the public, running regular bus services to Guildford train station and Friary bus station in the town centre in time for the busy Christmas shopping period.
Located just off the A3 to the west of central Guildford next to the Holiday Inn Hotel and Surrey Sports Park, the facility has been built using £3m of funding from Travel SMART. Perfectly located for commuters and shoppers heading into Guildford northbound on the A3, the site has 550 car park spaces and is only ten minutes from the town centre.
The facility will reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in Guildford by encouraging people to travel in by bus, whilst boosting the local economy by making it easier for shoppers from other towns and villages to access the town centre.
Fares for parking at Onslow and a bus journey to and from Guildford have been set at £2.50 for an adult day return or £10 for a weekly ticket, but a special introductory fare of just £1.50 for an adult day return - which also allows two children to travel free - is available until March 2014. Buses run every 15 minutes between 7.30am - 7.00pm Monday to Saturday.
For satnav users the post code for directions to the park and ride is: GU2 7AD
