Dishonest and Bad Workmanship

Appointed them before Christmas 2010 for installing combi boiler and radiator system. Work was supposed to be completed before new year so that rest of refurbishment could be carried out. Quoted £3600 + VAT with Worcester Bosch 28i junior . I was told I could chose any combi boiler I liked, there is no difference is price. But work was being done on irregular basis and stopped all of a sudden without notice. After many trials, found the owner's wife gave child birth, so all workmen were off. I was fine. From the beginning I discussed with Jason (owner) about the best place to put the boiler and sought his suggestions. While this work was put on hold, I thought over and asked him to alter the planned location of the boiler; very little pipe work was done by then. He said he will come to inspect and let me know if that's fine. He didn't come. Instead he sent his workers to do some more piping work. I had also asked him to change the boiler to 37cdi. At that point, he started abusing me in unprofessional tones and denied having told me in past that I had choice of boilers under same price - dishonest behaviour. He put his excuses for not carrying out the work on time on to the personal grounds. He then sent me a revised quote of £4680+VAT! and claimed £700 for only little pipe work done. He held my property keys until I paid him £600!! I lost so many days and money as a result of it, due to the delays. The soldering on the pipe works were low quality and later had to be all ripped off and redone by new engineer. When I mentioned Jason about the quality of work he had done, he just mentioned about the years of experience they have. Their experience shows in their quality and their professionalism. I would avoid them like plague. If I were a little experienced in operating building work, I would not have paid £600 for nothing and the trouble.
