Testimonial –West Lakes Adventure The West Lakes Adventure company are head and shoulders above the rest! I recently had to prepare my brothers stag activity weekend in the Lakes and was quite nervous as to which company to choose as there seemed to be so many of them doing a similar thing. We wanted to do a morning of archery and an afternoon of mountain climbing and canoeing. Being an activity weekend with this involving risk activities deciding which company to choose was a difficult task until looking into it, we chose West Lakes Adventure and we glad we did. After speaking with Steve who runs West Lakes Adventure he put me completely at ease, his many years of experience and energy for customer satisfaction was apparent. We provided him with a brief description of our requirements and very swiftly we were provided with a tailored recommended itinerary for the day. Being a Best Man is often a stressful job but West Lakes took all the stress out of it. Everything from their website to their service is brilliant. West Lakes Adventure is incredibly thorough. All questions were answered and all necessary arrangements were made very easy. I have not done anything like this before and one of the biggest worries is the safety aspect. West Lakes Adventure however make you feel absolutely looked after and protected, and with all that taken care of it allows for your party to relax and have the most fulfilling experience. Steve is incredibly professional, his knowledge of the area and his work gives you instant reassurance and his warm friendly personality puts you at ease and somehow brings the best out of you and your team. West Lakes provided the most fun day ever. We were split into teams for the archery, which heightened the experience and fun with 11 competing stags. We were shown how to safely use the equipment and were even given guidance on how to improve your technique during the session. We then had lunch at the fantastic Screes Inn, also ran by Steve, Caroline and the team. We had a lovely sandwich platter and chips which powered us up for the rest of the days activities. The place had a lot of character and was very welcoming! We proceeded to climb Yewbarrow after lunch and the climb and view from the top was breath taking. The beauty with West Lakes Adventure is that they know the area inside out and know where the most inspiring viewpoints are and the safest routes to get there. We ended the day canoeing along the beautiful Wasdale water which was so stunning words cannot describe what a phenomenal experience it was. One of the most impressive things about West Lakes Adventure is their tailored service. What stands them out from other organisations doing a similar thing is their dedication to providing the customer with an experience that they want and not being restricted by pre-packaged options. Our day with West Lakes Adventure was incredible value for money! In a nutshell if you are looking for an activity day in the Lake District, you want the best, and for me West Lakes Adventure ticks every box.. quality of service, value for money, friendly instructors, excellent equipment, dedication to customer satisfaction, and above all a complete care for participants safety. We wanted to combine a team building exercise with our Christmas party this year. We have been visiting the lake district, going to The Screes Inn at Nether Wasdale each year for holidays for over 20 years now. For us the heart of the village, from a visitors perspective, is the Screes Inn. It has always provided great affordable food and good beer with friendly staff. When we visited this summer Steve and Caroline had recently taken over managing the pub for Robinsons brewery, Steve told us at this time of his plans for the West Lakes Adventure. It seemed like a good idea to get Steve to take us all rock climbing at Eskdale followed by a Christmas dinner at the Screes Inn cooked by Caroline and make a weekend of it. The weekend of the 18th/19th December 2010 which turned out to be one of the worst snow falls to be seen in England since 1981. We arrived on the Friday evening at 11pm having battled through the snow. Even though it was past last order for food, Caroline got us all bowls of chips. We were staying at a cottage just down the road, but nothing is too much trouble for Steve an Caroline, we asked if they could do breakfast for us all before heading off on the Rock Climb with Steve. Caroline produced a full English breakfast with eggs done to individual taste, it really set us up for the day. Rock climbing is just one of the adventures that Steve can lay on for you, so can only comment on that. Steve is a responsible, calm and good fun. All the equipment, ropes, harnesses, helmets were all new, comfortable and good quality (just remember to bring your own boots). The scenery was quite breath taking, snow all around, cold, but the sun on our faces. The climbing was great fun. Time for Christmas meal: Caroline had roasted two joints of lamb, the lambs and been reared locally on her parents hill farm, and served them for me to carve are requested. We had roasted and boiled seasonal vegetables with gravy. There was so must food i have seconds of most of it. We had bottles of house red and white for £11.95 each, pudding was a homemade lemon cheese cake or a selection of the regulars Screes favourites including chocolate fudge cake, followed by cheese and biscuits. The meal cost at the seasonal Christmas dinner rate of £16.95, which I feel was great food and service for a fantastic price. Steve and Caroline are the perfect hosts, they joined us for a drink in the bar after the meal when to left at 11pm to head off back to our cottage, it seemed that their night was just beginning with locals and residents still in the bar. If you looking for adventure, great food, friendly people and spectacular scenery then the West Lakes Adventure will not disappoint you.
