Bridge Gate
Hebden Bridge
West Yorkshire
HX7 8EX
This pub/hotel has to be one of the oldest in Hebden Bridge and so has a lot of character. It has original features such as oak beams, real log fireplace and mullioned windows. In it's favour there are local ales-with guest ales trialled weekly, food using locally produced vegetables and sources, and a vegetarian option or two.The staff are friendly and there is a disabled toilet, easily accessible and clean. So what is it lacking?some of it's charm is in it's aged look, but the carpets and decor are looking worn and rundown .As a regular visitor it's not unusual to find the coffee machine broken and no ice in the summer. In the winter-the coal/log fire though adding a lovely ambience is often left to billow smoke into the room,or unchecked and left with just glowing embers. Its in a central part of town, and also has bedrooms at a reasonable rate. With more attention and loving care it could take the "lions" share of the business as the premier pub of Hebden Bridge,a lovely part of West Yorkshire and well worth a visit.
