Andy Mayos of Whites Bathrooms & Ensuites has caused over £11,000 in damages and repairs to my property He was contracted to tile & fit a bathroom suite but done it so badly the full bathroom including all the plumbing had to be completely stripped out thrown away and started again. Things he did were downright dangerous IE He cut out 5inches x 3 inches wide into four of the supporting joists & drilling out 3inch holes beside these & cut out the top of the joists, the bath could have fallen through the ceiling. All plumbing joints were taped up and leaking, when the bath emptied the contents came through my kitchen ceiling. Tiles were uneven & fell off the walls one fell out the bathroom window narrowly missing a neighbour’s car, he used quick dry cement instead of tile adhesive an inch or more thick in places. I have attached a list of problems below The address on his website was 28 Testimond Drive Yateley, Hampshire GU46 6FE his parents address Tracy & Steve Mayos, they are returning mail not known at this address & refusing to accept any mail on his behalf & will not provide an address for their son Andy Mayos so I cannot take court action against him. Some of the substandard workmanship 1. Bath water when emptied ran into the shower tray and subsequently came though the kitchen ceiling 2. Walls had not been prepared prior to any tiling all the old tile adhesive was left on there. 3. The wall tiles are all completely uneven bumpy sticking out and have gaps all over. 4. The new wall tiles had to be taken off and thrown away that cost £900 5. He ordered 1/3 more tiles than required but used them all due to all the mistakes he made. 6. Wall tiles had an inch of adhesive behind them 7. Wall tiles had not bonded to the adhesive, mosaics & large tiles fell off a large tile above the window just fell off out the bathroom window and landed on my keter bike shed it bouncing off it and just missed next doors car – he is normally working on his car I dread to think 8. Quick dry cement was used rather than tile adhesive 9. Two of the floor tiles have come off within two days 10. Wall & floor tiles had an inch of adhesive & were filled with silicone, green spacers & white plastic. 11. Bathroom entrance had two 5cm tiles cuts, the tiles came off within two days & were filled with bits of plastic and mastic. 12. All new wall Tiles had to be taken off and thrown away due to sub standard workmanship 13. A kango has had to be used to get the cement used off the walls in the end 14. Small tile cuts all over looked awful and unprofessional 15. Tile cuts were not straight 16. Brick pattern does not flow throughout 17. He cut down and into 4 main supporting joists in the bathroom 5 inches x 3 inches plus in each joist then cut 3 inch holes next to this to feed a standard electrical cable, he also cut out large holes on the top for flexihose further weakening the structure. 18. The joists were cut out & weakened to a level that is dangerous which causes structural problems. The advice I was given by 3 independent builders, was sheer disbelief and how dangerous it was this should never ever be done as the weight of the bath filled could cause the joists to collapse and the bath to go through the kitchen ceiling. 19. put screws in across the plumbing to I guess hold it in place 20. The full bathroom has had to be removed refitted and re - plumbed. 21. All materials plumbing, flooring and new bathroom have had to be disposed of and new materials bought 22. Cost of waste disposal doubled 23. Kitchen ceiling is damaged due to constant water leaks & flooding from bathroom 24. kitchen worktops have been damaged and split due to constant water leaks 25. Bathroom door has been cut too short and will need replaced 26. The frame for the bathroom door has also been cut too short & needs replaced 27. speed fit and flexi pipe throughout and the wrong standard of flexipipe was used and was not supported or held up with clips 28. Hot and cold feed for shower has been put the wrong way round 29. leaks from behind the sink & under bath – plumber was called out on 3 occasions 30. problems with central heating since you touched it 31. further leaking in the bath resulted in water coming through the kitchen ceiling. 32. One leak had hot water running through the ceiling and down via ceiling lights and electrical sockets. 33. When you empty the sink it gurgles into the bath and vice versa – water backs up 34. Speedfit was used throughout HEP fitting is now used as is it much more reliable and less prone to leaking. 35. Used pushfit on all the waste, this should not be done as there is not access to fix problems 36. Tpieces on the waste were put on the wrong way, which makes the flow go back the wrong way instead of the way its supposed to go 37. Pipes went from 1 ½” and down to 1 ¼ then back to 1½ which restricts the flow and should not be done 38. Pushed a 1 ½” pipe on a 4” waste on a rubber socket and just left it hanging out, therefore the waste would then back fill run out and down into the kitchen ceiling 39. All joints were siliconed and were taped up. 40. All joints were leaking. 41. The pipes fitted were all bent up on the bath not allowing water to flow and pushing the water back the wrong way which cause it to run through the kitchen ceiling 42. put a t piece on back to front under the bath causing further leaks. 43. The sink and toilet side by side system does not fit in the area it was supposed to, he confirmed it would 44. The bath and separate shower was to be fitted on the same wall, he lost over 2 ½ inches on the length of the room due to the massive amounts of adhesive 45. wanted to channel out the wall tiles so could sink the shower unit into the wall and mastic this 46. The new taps he put on the bath were found to be full of silicone and tile adhesive he also damaged the mesh/filter inside the tap by putting a large hole through it the new taps have had to be thrown away and new ones bought. 47. The new bath has several scratches on the inside bottom when you fitted this 48. The shower tray you fitted is all scratched and cracked and had to be replaced 49. Shower tray is not supported simply sat on top of joists, this should be on supporting board if anything is dropped on it it ie shower gel or shampoo it will shatter, the weight of people on would have broken it 50. There is large gap around the shower tray of over an inch , shower tray would have broken very easily. 51. cut two 3 inch holes in front of the shower tray next to this gap to try and repair leaks coming from the shower trap under the tray after you had fitted this again causing weakness, tiles would have broken at some point 52. standard ply was used rather than marine ply 53. New Radiator had to be replaced due to damage £99 54. The new shower taps are all scratched 55. Fittings I paid for he took 56. Washing machine taps had been used on the shower as stop valves which protruded from the walls 57. Shower taps were over a foot to low 58. Hot & cold feed for shower were wrong way around Andy sent me a text saying he was unable to finish the bathroom due to time restraints after 3 weeks at that point I had nothing fitted half a floor tiled no bathroom door on no sink plumbed in bath was leaking & water running through my kitchen ceiling. There are many more problems but im sure you get the gist of things
