Jan Steele is a professional Chef - Recipe Creator - Artist
Having been associated with the world of Antique art, Lacquer Restoration and Floristry. Jan Steele a self taught cook, published recipes from her own original menus, prepared and supplied a home dinner party service and opened an exclusive 'Private Dining Room' in the ancient Cotswold village of Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire.
Moving to Midhurst, West Sussex, in the late 1980's. Jan was employed at Cowdray Park as Chef/Florist responsible for Polo functions and family events.
The mid 1990's saw Jan employed as Creative recipe designer for Harrods food halls, also providing an exclusive dinner party service for her private clientelle.
Having incidentally gained Design and Administration qualifications Jan found herself to be most sought after by Corporate Institutions in the City of London. After several years she became unhappy by the business practices of large organisations and has now devoted herself to the more enduring product of the artist/chef, applying her natural abilities and expressions in her original artistic works.
Having lived on Paxos, Greece for three years painting from a shop on the Quay at Gaios. Jan returned to Richmond where for ten years she ran her own studio/gallery from a boathouse on the riverside.
Jan has now moved from Richmond Riverside and is working in Wiltshire were she has her own homemade food catering business .
Wiltshire Artisans was formed in December 2014 by Jan Steele and incorporates Truffleicious and Avrioart.
Jan has been an Artist, Chef and Gallery Owner of many years standing. Forced by rental increases, she left her boat house Gallery - entirely stocked and ran by herself for 13yrs- in 2013 and adopted the precarious role of Artisan market trader, retailing both her own original Art and own recipe Belgian Chocolate Truffles.
Having traded at Markets, Food festivals and with an on-line presence, Jan became aware of the need for a small, exclusive, web site to encourage, support and promote other fine Artisan Traders, which led to her opening Wiltshire Artisans both a website promoting small rural producers & a seasonal Artisan Country Food Market in The Coach House at Great Chalfield Manor, Wiltshire
The Market runs from 27th March 2016 - 31st October 2016 from 1-5pm every Sunday. Tea, Coffee, Home made cakes, soups, salads & savouries are available either to eat in or take home with you, along with local cheeses, eggs, meat, poultry, chutneys etc.
