So sad to give a negative review

I used to love this shop and visited every time I came home to Tyneside, spending a LOT of money. After booking a trip up home months ago, I'd been looking forward to going to Woolworks for all those months, but sadly I feel so let down and won't be going back. The manager made us feel very uncomfortable, approaching as soon as we entered, insisting on showing us various different yarns, etc - even though we hadn't asked and fairly obviously just wanted to browse, as most yarn-shoppers do. None of the yarns she showed me were ones I would consider buying, so what was the point, other than to make us feel uncomfortable and harassed?! I'm in my forties but felt I was being supervised like a teenager who was out to shoplift! She clearly doesn't like customers handling her yarn but sadly, that is what we customers have to do in order to decide what to buy - and our hands were spotlessly clean! I felt uncomfortable and pestered, and unable to browse freely - I didn't get a chance to do so, so therefore didn't have a spending spree. Their loss! I also noticed that their prices are no longer competetive with online stores, which is unfortunate. If you're going to charge so much more than online stores, then your service needs to be top notch and your store should feel welcoming, not uncomfortable. I thought long and hard about posting this as I so loved this shop previously, but I just hope it helps them improve. I won't be going back sadly, and this kind of dominant approach will put others off too. If we want help, we will ask for it!
