Welcome to Worthing Shodokan Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969) who is also known as O'Sensei. After mastering classical styles of Judo, Kendo and Jujitsu, he created Aikido - a defensive martial art. Kenjo Tomiki (1900-1979) founded the Shodokan style of Aikido, which is sometimes known as 'sport Aikido' or 'Tomiki Aikido'. Although there are varying styles of Aikido througout the world, the basic principles are the same. The force of any attack is controlled and diffused without injury
